Claire Delcambre, PT, DPT
Dr. Claire Delcambre believes in a comprehensive approach to health that includes physical activity, time outdoors, nutrition, and mental and emotional health. This holistic mindset influences her treatment style and she believes in listening to her patients' stories, understanding their barriers and limitations, and tailoring treatment to each individual in a way that is best suited to their skills, capabilities, and goals. She recognizes she and her patients are a partnership that must work cohesively together to reach goals and milestones in ways that are most meaningful to her patients.
Dr. Claire has worked with people of all ages, genders, activity levels, and conditions. Her career has emphasized working with individuals who suffer from pain, injury, or trauma related to sports, orthopedics/surgery, concussion, and pelvic health. She has strong interest in helping your performance and reducing your risk of injury no matter your sport and has extensive experience working with professional and recreational athletes whose sports include dance, soccer, volleyball, long distance running, tennis, golf, ice-skating, baseball, softball, cross country and downhill skiing, circus, and hockey.
Pelvic health has been a career focus of Dr. Claire's. It is a unique and effective way to address problems and complaints most people have but have difficulty talking about or seeking help for such as pelvic pain, urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, pain with sex, leakage with laughing or sneezing, prostate issues with normal lab values, constipation, and urinary urgency/frequency to name a few. Everyone has a pelvic floor and most people in their lifetime will experience a symptom of pelvic floor dysfunction, but Dr. Claire is here to let you know you are not alone and there is help.
As a certified Titleist Performance Institute medical practitioner, Dr. Claire is specially trained in analyzing a golfer’s form and mechanics to identify limitations or movement insufficiencies that may present in a client’s swing. Identifying and treating these impairments will improve your form and mechanics with your swing and drastically reduce your risk of pain and injury. While this analysis was developed for golfers, it has been shown to improve mechanics and technique for other rotational sports (baseball, tennis, softball, etc) as well.
In addition to performing sports analyses and treating sports injuries, Dr. Claire is also a certified concussion management specialist through the Complete Concussion Management Institute. Her training exposed many of the flaws in the classical approach to treating concussion and provided her with the most recent and relevant evidence in concussion research to optimize healing, reduce post-concussion symptom risk, and prevent future concussions. If you have experienced a concussion and were told to "rest" for a week, you were given poor advice that is not only not supported by the evidence but can be harmful. It is important to slowly and gradually increase exposure to activity, light, and cognitive load at the right times. Dr. Claire can help you do that safely. If you had a concussion more than 1 month ago and are experiencing post-concussion symptoms, it is likely there are residual deficits remaining that can be addressed to help you return to normal.
