Why We're Different

Chiropractic Redondo Beach CA Rainbow

The reason why our Redondo Beach clinic is different is our emphasis on the soft tissue system, mainly the fascia.

The main condition we treat at Pro-Active Wellness Center is adhesive scar tissue build up in the fascia which leads to unhealthy soft tissue. Every part of the diagram is equally important but most people are not considering #2 when addressing their pain.

What is Fascia and Why is it Important in Redondo Beach?Chiropractic Redondo Beach CA 5 Pillars

Most people don't know what fascia is so they also don't know that it is one of the most important structures of our body, especially when it comes to chronic physical pain. Fascia is the thin casing of connective tissue that encapsulates and intertwines all of our soft tissue together from head to toe to give our body its tensile strength and stability. It surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber, muscle, tendon, and ligament in place. When someone has pain in their muscle, they are experiencing pain in their fascia.

This absolutely essential part of our anatomy has been overlooked and ignored thus causing misdiagnoses and needless suffering.

So why is the fascia so important? Injury and scar tissue build-up to the fascia will cause two main issues:

  1. Pain - Fascia is one of the most pain-sensitive structures in the body. Right up there with nerve tissue, fascial tissue tends to be very painful when injured. The pain that many chronic pain sufferers feel is actually coming from the fascia.
  2. Altered Biomechanics – Adhesive scar tissue causes restrictions in that scarred area leading to an alteration in biomechanics. Altered mechanics leads to abnormal stresses and compensation leading to more scar tissue formation leading to more pain. This continued cycle only gets worse and eventually, the pain seems to spread.

We have 206 bones compared to around 640 pairs of muscles yet a specialty in muscle health does not exist in medicine. This is the gap we are trying to bridge with our emphasis of soft-tissue treatment utilizing Active Release Technique (A.R.T.).

A System that works together

At Pro-Active Wellness Center, our opinion is that all systems work together and they are all of equal importance. When we evaluate patients' conditions we have to consider the bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, muscles, nerves, and the fascia that connects them all together. Not only that, since our body works as a connected whole we need to evaluate it and treat it as such.

When a patient comes in with a low back disc herniation, the question that we ask isn't how do we fix the disc herniation but it's how did it get herniated in the first place?

Functional Movement Assessments

The Doctors at Pro-Active Wellness Center use a combination of Functional Movement Assessments, Chiropractic, Active Release Techniques, and Rehab exercises to properly diagnose and treat physical pain. We believe this is the best combination to effectively diagnose and treat a much wider range of injuries and conditions.

We do not put our patients on generic treatment plans. Every body is different and every condition is different. You may improve in one visit or twenty so your treatment plan is entirely dependent on how you respond to the treatment.

At Pro-Active Wellness Center, our true goal is to get you to as close to 100% in the shortest amount of time possible.
